The end of January I got a visit of my mom and my grandma here in Castellane. The reunion of 3 generations in the Verdon! I am realising how lucky I am to be able to get my grandmother to visit me here in the Verdon. A 75 year old power woman still walking through the streets, uphill, the 4 floors up to my apartment, walks with the dog. Such an inspiration that she is.
I picked them up late at night at the airport on Friday and during 3 days I showed them the beautiful region. Hikes were a no-go but we still had plenty of things to do. My grandma was blown away by the nature and a month later she still messages me about it.

Often I see questions of tourists asking if the region is doable for people of 65+ and I can loudly say YES! There is so much to do by car, easy and short walks. Take an example of the “Route des Cretes” where you literally park on 10 meters of the viewpoints or the beautiful lakes Lac de Castillon and Lac de Saint Croix or the beautiful (medieval) villages that are located in the region. These are already a few points but I’ll definitely make a separate blog about this subject!
Curious about all the activities in the Gorges du Verdon and the nearby region? Don’t forget to check out the website of the tourist office!
I am already looking forward to moms visit in a few weeks! Grandma also told me that she would love to come again with mom in autumn, looking forward to another reunion and showing them the beautiful autumn colours.
